Intriguing Insights # 12 F - Don't worry! Be Happy!

Intrinsic - Optimistic - Status Quo
6. CONTENTED

This is the guy who covets internal satisfaction and happiness and he tends to find it in almost any situation that he is in. Without ever needing to change a thing.

So it is interesting how a large number of Disney characters spring to mind when writing about this character... I have however restricted it to just two.

The first is Baloo the bear - his easy going, fun loving nature has always been life of Mowgli's many adventures in The Jungle Book. But what really seals the deal for me is the song Bare Necessities - if this behavioural identity has a song it would have to be this one...

The second Disney character I would like to mention here is Bert in the classic Mary Poppins. Now I haven't seen the new version of this film but in the original Bert is always contented despite being low on money or having to clean soot from chimneys. Though the lyrics don't necessarily bring out this identity, the mood of this song surely does... yet another favourite of mine...

Now if we come to a little bit more realistic characters from everyday life the first character that come to mind is Rajesh Khanna in Anand. See the clip below right up to the end to get a true sense of this identity.
We saw how Hrishikesh Mukherjee brought alive Mr. Cool who is extrinsically motivated now here is his beautiful depiction of someone who is intrinsically motivated and contended.

I guess this behavioural identity holds the secret to happy living... It may however hold one back in today's world... so tread carefully...
