Intriguing Insights #12 B - I did it my way
Extrinsic - Optimistic - Status Quo
2. COOL
This persona is also positive and bothered by how people see him. But he has a rather relaxed way of going about it. It is often this attitude that draws people to him.
To bring out the Cool behavioural identity, I am first going to use a certain character built through advertisements. He is the Mentos guy. He is chilled out about how he deals with any situation. And he is primarily coming from a place of making things more comfortable for himself.
Take a look at the ad below to get an insight into Mr. Cool's behaviour.
If one has to look at movies, Hrishikesh Mukherjee first comes to mind. Whether it was Dharmendra in Chupke Chupke or Amol Palekar in Golmal. These were guys who were concerned about how they were perceived, but confident of coming out on the top. You might say they were more action oriented than in a status-quo, but if you see the way they went about things neither was looking at changing anything, just using their wit to get the better of the situation they were in.
Let's try and look at some examples in English cinema. And Han Solo instantly comes to mind. Let me start with the status quo - action axis and it is quite clear he would have preferred to let things stay the way they were if he ever had a choice in it. He was extrinsically focussed as he always did try to make the right impression. And as for optimism - the challenges he finally took up reeks of it. Well it helps that I think he is one of the coolest characters in Star Wars.
Have been trying to find some female character from popular culture, under this identity, but have been unable to find anyone - would love to here of any that come to your mind.
