Intriguing Insights #003 Lover in the time of Corona - Part II

As promised here is Part II of the post  - my attempt at explaining archetypes during lockdown. Here is a quick summary of the six personalities we saw in Part I.

Now let us take a look at the balance six archetypes and the genesis of the title of this post.


Rebel

The rebel as the name suggests believes that rules are meant to be broken. I think a clear representation would be the Aimless Joyriders. They flout the quarantine rules not for essentials, or necessary travels but just for the sake of it. A watch out here... the rebel is not always without a cause... unfortunately that's the most obvious one in the current scenario.


Magician

The magician is sometimes called a catalyst or an inventor. For me this archetype came alive two months ago when offices across the world shifted their MO to #wfh. How was this possible... well it is the Admin and IT Staff that made this miracle come true and I think they are the rightful wearers of the magician's hat.


Jester

Now the jester is more an entertainer than a clown. To me the Quarantined Celebrities who have been posting fun videos through the lockdown are just the perfect representation. My favourites include Gordon Ramsay with his daughter or Karan Johar and his kids...

Everyman

Now surely everyman is gender neutral but to me right now the plight of the Struggling Husbands is really the essence of this archetype. 

Caregiver

Now the obvious caregivers in these times are the nurses attending to the sick. But I think there is another caregiver that we've all come across - she is the Society Aunty. From tea and biscutis for the watchmen or ghar ka khaana for the bachelor next door she is concerned about everyone. 



Lover

And finally the last archetype - the one that has inspired my title for the post. A lover has a burning passion for something or someone, he is a sensualist. And reports such as the one below make me believe there are a whole lot of Romantics amongst us - bordeom is just an alibi [To understand the use of the word alibi in this context read my earlier post Intellectual Imprints #001]





Now this by no means is an exhaustive list of the archetypes we have witnessed during the lockdown. I am sure each of you has a unique experience for every one of the personality types. I would love to hear your take on each. Do write back in your comments if you have any interesting tale to tell.
