Intriguing Insights # 12 G - If you have little you still want more...

Intrinsic - Pessimistic - Action
7. CRAVER

And then you have the guy who is never satisfied with where he is. In every situation he finds the grass greener elsewhere and then strives to get there.

So while this identity seems overtly negative and one you wouldn't aspire to become. The strife in their minds makes them some of the more followed characters in popular culture. You will see what I mean in just a bit as I look at Hollywood, a TV show and Bollywood to elucidate my point.

The first character I have chosen is Anakin Skywalker. He is constantly pessimistic about what the world is going to be for him and Padme. In his head and with help from the Emperor he paints this terrible picture of tomorrow which then guides his actions as he moves to the dark side and transforms into Darth Vader. The starting point was this endless craving for a world he felt was impossible to get to.

The second character is a much more positive character and the protagonist of the TV series NCIS. Leroy Jethro Gibbs - he is the heart of the show - but through the 19 seasons you see the emptiness in his heart. Brought there by the impact of the past realities and the belief that things can never be like they were before. He chooses to channelise these feelings into doing some good and into his work. But that is not enough to satisfy this hero.

My last reference is from Bollywood. And it is not one character but a series of characters created and played to perfection in the 70s. Yes I am referring to Amitabh Bachchan's Angry Young Man... From Sholay to Shakti and Deewar to Lawaaris you see traits of this identity. One who has given up on the world, one that is unable to find happiness, one that is forced to act in a way, often to his own detriment.
This was the seventh of my eight behavioural identities - next week I will write about the last one and would love to hear about what your views are on these identities.
